CRC Salutes Our Non-Profit Partner, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Oxnard and Port Hueneme
The Boys & Girls Clubs of Oxnard and Port Hueneme (BGCOP) do “Whatever it Takes” for kids. BGCOP, with vital support from California Resources Corporation, has been leading the way in supporting kids, families, and teachers during one of the most unorthodox school years in recent history.
“When the COVID-19 pandemic shutdown began, we launched a virtual club providing live tutoring, leadership development, and fun experiences like painting with a dolphin to over 1,000 kids a week. To ensure kids had a nourishing meal, staff began distributing healthy lunches for any family in need,” said Erin Antrim, BGCOP President and CEO.
As extensive safety precautions developed in concert with public health leaders, BGCOP reopened their doors with expanded hours and new locations to make sure that working parents had a safe and nurturing place for their children. BGCOP also launched new partnerships with Oxnard Union High School and Hueneme Elementary School Districts to open 11 new clubhouses on school campuses for children of teachers.
These new programs, new clubhouses, new technologies and new methods show exactly why “Whatever it Takes” has become BGCOP’s motto in 2020.
